Trail runs below plot.;South slope of ridge nose above an arm of a reservoir in the valley bottom. Community is an open forest dominated by white oaks. Tree form and physiognomy may reflect dry site conditions. Heavy deer browse is evident through the vicinity, but there is some low growing oak regen in plot. Herb cover is dominated by grasses and legumes. Surface soil has circumneutral pH. Surficial rocks did not fizz with acid test.
